Fishing
Being a country exposed to extreme temperatures Spain has many reservoirs and boasts large lakes with a very impressive river system. All good news for the anglers as you are able to find a wide variety of species in these waters.
The size of the fish are irrelevant when you experience tremendous fights and fish in perfect condition. Normal carp tactics work well, though great fun can be had from stalking the fish in the margins or maybe even getting the float out.
Carp, Barbel, Pike, Zander, Trout, and Black Bass are all available here on the Costa Blanca.
Black bass, an American perch like fish, with a huge mouth and a huge appetite not available in the UK but is abundant here in the lakes and rivers of Spain. A very game fish that once hooked will make several jumps and tail walking bids for its freedom .
One of our villas “The Retreat” is set grandly on the slopes of the Beniarres Resevoir, which is ideal for fishermen.
Beniarres reservoir is over 7 km long and has access all round the perimeter. Fish found in the reservoir are: Carp, Black Bass, Barbel, Sunfish.

Nearer to “El Romero” is the The Guadalest Dam which is a great place for fresh water fishing.  We will advise you on any licences (if needed), when you book your Villa, and help you obtain them in advance before your arrival.
